Three Boys' Golf Teams, Two Individuals Headed To Districts


The Division II Boys' Golf Sectionals were held at the The Mill Course at Winton Woods.  the top four teams and four individuals qualify for the district championships.  It's not the unusual to have two teams tied in golf. The top four golfers scores determined a team score. But, how about the three top teams with the same score?  And all three were CHL teams!  Mariemont, Indian Hill, & Madeira all had a score of 334.  For the Indian Hill & Madeira, it was the second week in a row that they tied (CHL Championships).  In golf, if there is a tie, the 5th golfer determines place.  Mariemont won the tie breaker with Luke Brennaman shooting an 89.  Indian Hill finished runner up with their 5th golfer, Kyle Innis, shooting a 92.  Mariemont's other four were Tom Burchart & Andrew Getgey tied for 4th each with an 81, Wil Glassmeyer tied for 10th with an 84, and Drew Seichter an 88.  Indian Hill top four were Wyatt Higgins (tied for 4th) had an 81.  Peter Sheakley & Alex Holzapfel tied for 10th with an 84.  Will Heekin had an 85.  On a windy day, par was a real challenge for everyone.  Brandon Conner of Madeira came closest with a 76.  The medalist was one of only two golfers that finished under 80. Teammate Eddie Hurting was tied for 8th with an 83.  Grant Rindels had an 87 & Luke Isgrig an 88.  Zach Schneider was the Mustang's 5th golfer (95).  Wyoming finished 5th, only 9 strokes from the final qualifying team.  The Cowboys qualified two golfers for the district, and almost had a third.  Clay Van Fossen was 3rd overall with an 80.  Sam Judge tied for 8th with an 83.  Conor Madden lost a sudden death play-off for the 4th individual spot.  Finneytown was 11th with Randy Fleming was top Wildcat golfer.  Reading was 12th with J.D. Piron the top Blue Devil golfer. Taylor will compete in Division I next week.
The Division II District Championships will be on Tuesday, October 6th at the Glenview Golf Course.  First tee times will be 9:00.
