Co Champs In Boys' Golf


The CHL Boys' Golf Championships were held at The Mill Course on Monday.  Indian Hill won the tournament and ended up being league co-champs with Madeira.  The match on Monday ended being a close one. Team scores in high school golf are the scores of four players.  Most teams play with six golfers.  When the scores were tallied Indian Hill & Madeira were tied at 316 each.  It came down to the 5th golfer for each team.  The Brave's Wyatt Higgins ended up with 86 which broke the tie.  Not only were the team scores tied for 1st, there was a tie score after 18 holes for the medalist.  Peter Sheakley (Indian Hill) & Brandon Conner (Madeira) each had a par 72.  The two went to a sudden death play-off to see who would be the medalist.  For Sheakley, it was the second time this season he was in a sudden death place for medalist honors in a CHL match.  At the league preview Sheakley & Tom Buchert (Mariemont) battled 5 holes before Buchert finally won.  This time it was different.  Sheakley won after only one hole.  Buchert & Eddie Hurting tied for 3rd with scores of 75 each. Andrew Getgey (Mariemont) was 5th with a 76. Besides Sheakley & Higgins, the other scorers for Indian Hill were Alex Holzafel (78), Kyle Innis (83), & Will Heekin (83).    Based on points, Indian Hill & Madeira each had 26 points for the season.  Mariemont was 3rd in the league with 23 points.
