Website Update - Sunday 11/3

The football brackets have been posted.  As we stated on Saturday, three league teams have made the playoffs
Division IV Region 16
Wyoming has been the #1 seed all season.  The Cowboys will host #8 West Milton Milton-Union on Saturday at 7:00.  Wyoming is making their 7th post season in a row and the 25th overall.  Only 12 other schools (all divisions) in Ohio have had more play off appearances. The Cowboys are defending D4 state champs.   Indian Hill finished in the 5th position. They will be at #4 Kenton Saturday at 7:00.  It is the 5th year in the row for the Braves to make post season and 13th overall.
Division V Region V
Madeira moved up to the 5th position.  They will be at #4 West Liberty Salem Saturday at 7:00.  It is the 2nd year in a row for the Mustangs to be in post season and 11th overall.

Saturday update....
Soccer and cross country closed out their seasons Saturday.
Cross country finished up at the state championships at National Trail Raceway.  Congratulations to the 19 runners from Indian Hill, Madeira, Mariemont, Taylor, & Wyoming.  See related story.

Mariemont girls lost to Cincinnati Country Day 4-1 in the regional finals in Division III soccer.  The Warriors history making season finished with a 11-4-6 record.

Wyoming boys soccer were taking on Tipp City Tippecanoe.  The Cowboys came back to tie the game at 3 all to force overtime.  It went to two overtimes when Tippecanoe won on penalty kicks 4-3.  Wyoming finishes 19-1-1, the best record in school history.

Friday night had two game football games with play off and league title implications.  Both ended up being great games.  Madeira beat Mariemont 21-20 in a game to decide who would make the playoffs.  Indian Hill scored two 4th quarter touchdowns to get back within 3 of Wyoming, but the Cowboys recovered the onside kick and ran out the clock to win 21-18 and capture their 4th straight league title.  In that game, Wyoming QB Evan Prater had a career high 303 yards rushing.  He also had three TD runs.  So Wyoming, Indian Hill, & Madeira have all made the playoffs.  Wyoming will have a home game in the 1st round.  The official list of play off teams will not come out till Sunday afternoon, when the OHSAA posts the final Harbin Rankings.  We will update on Sunday evening who the three teams will be playing .

Friday update.....
Wyoming volleyball lost in the regional semi finals to the #1 ranked team in D2, Bishop Fenwick.  The Cowboys lost in 3 games but they gave the top ranked team all they could handle.  The scores were 25-23, 25-13, 25-22.  Wyoming finishes the season 22-5.  More important, they finish with a 10th straight league title and the 140 game league win streak still in tact.

We have a correction to make about Wyoming boys' soccer.  The Cowboys have made the regional final once before.  In 2015, they lost to Carroll 2-1.  Saturday, the Cowboys will try to make the state final four for the first time.  Wyoming & Tippecanoe tied for 2nd in the final state Division II poll.  With #1 ranked Bay Village Bay losing in their regional semi final, these two teams are highest ranked still playing.  That game will be at 2:00 at Xenia Football Stadium.

Closer to home Saturday, Mariemont girls' soccer will be trying to make their first trip to the Division III final four.  The #9 state ranked Warriors take on #1 ranked Cincinnati Country Day at Norwood Shea Stadium at noon.

Check out the Twitter for a really neat picture from the regional cross country championships last Saturday.  Alex Galbraith & Bradley Corl from Indian Hill are shown helping Dylan Whitson from Madeira over the finish line.  The conditions last Saturday at Troy were very bad with rain and muddy course, so it was a challenge for all of the runners.  That was the ultimate in sportsmanship.  Alex & Bradley are class individuals that all of Indian Hill should be proud of!  Madeira girls & boys teams and 5 individuals (including Alex) from 4 league schools will be braving the elements Saturday at the state cross country championships at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.

Finally, two big football games tonight.  One for the league title, one for the playoffs.  Mariemont at Madeira will be playing for a spot in the post season.  Indian Hill at Wyoming will be playing for the league title.  ICRC TV will be covering that game.

Thursday Update......
In D3 boys' soccer, Mariemont lost 1-0 to Botkins in the regional semi-final.  The Warriors finish the season 14-4-2.  In the D2 regional semi final, Jessie Levine scored a goal in the 1st half for Wyoming.  It held up as the Cowboys beat Monroe 1-0.  Austin Snowden had his 15th shut out of the season.  Wyoming 19-0-1 record is the best in school history for boys' soccer.  Wyoming will take on Tippecanoe on Saturday at Xenia Football Field at 2:00.

Wednesday update....
In girls' soccer from Tuesday, Mariemont beat Madeira 2-1.  Ana Gracia scored the first goal giving the Amazons a 1-0 lead at the half.  Marley Megowen tied the game in the 2nd half and the Warrior's Myah Giordullo scored what would be the winning goal with 18:46 to go in the game.  It is the first time in Mariemont (11-3-6) girls' soccer history that the Warriors have made it to a regional final.  They will take on #1 state ranked Cincinnati Country Day on Saturday at Norwood Shea Stadium.  Game time will be noon. During the regular season, Country Day beat Mariemont 2-0.  Madeira finishes the season 10-7-4. Thanks to Mariemont & Madeira Twitter for game info.

Last year, the state cross country championships were postponed for week because of flooding on the National Trail Raceway course.  The following week, temperature were in the 20"s.  This year, everything is set for Saturday, but it looks like temps could be below freezing for a second year in a row.  Eight league runners will be making a return trip to the state championships.  Tiffany Chen (Wyoming), Diego Arredondo (Madeira), Ben Ramos (Madeira), Dylan Whitson (Madeira), & Nick Lake (Taylor)  will be at their 3rd state championship.  Elziabeth Whaley (Indian Hill), Ethan Henry (Madeira), & Luke Mitchell (Madeira) will be making their 2nd trip.

Wyoming quarterback Evan Prater has received many honors the last couple of seasons.  This week will be another one.  Thursday, at the high school, Evan will be presented with his Army All American Bowl jersey.  The game will be national televised on January 4th from San Antonio, Texas.

Tuesday update....
Cross Country state championship will be held on Saturday.  Madeira will have both boys' & girls' teams going.  It is the first time since 1998 that Madeira will send both teams to state in the same year.  For the Mustangs, it will be their 3rd trip in a row to state and their 9th overall in school history.  For the Amazons, it will be their first trip to state since 2001 & 6th overall in school history.  More info on the state meet later this week.

Week 10 of football will have a couple important games.  For the 3rd year in a row, Indian Hill & Wyoming will decide the league title in the final regular season game.  Wyoming has won the last two years.  Both teams have secured a spot in the play offs.  Wyoming will have a home game first round.  Indian Hill needs a win to secure home field 1st round.  The game will be at Wyoming.  The other important game will be Mariemont at Madeira.  A position in the top 8 of the Division V Region 20 is at stake.  Madeira is currently in the 8th spot and Mariemont is in the 9th.
