Website Update - Friday 10/25

10/21/2019

Despite the fact that golf and tennis are done for the season, this still will be a busy week for CHL sports.

A busy night Thursday for girls' district soccer. Two teams advanced.  In D2, Wyoming went to overtime with Oakwood tied at 1 all.  In the first 13 seconds, the Lumberjacks scored the winning goal.  Wyoming finishes the season 11-6-1.  Indian Hill will not threepeat for the state D2 championship.  The Braves lost to Tippecanoe 2-1.  They finished the season 12-4-2.
Things were better in D3.  Mariemont had no problem with Troy Christian winning 5-0 to claim the district title.  With the two cross country titles from this past Saturday, that's three district trophies for the Warriors in less than a week.  Madeira also has three district  trophies in less than a week, doing it the same way as Mariemont.  But it was a little harder for the Amazons.  They had to go to a shoot out to beat Waynesville 1-0.  It was tied 0-0 after regulation and after the first overtime.  That is when Madeira won on the shoot out.  On Tuesday, Madeira & Mariemont will meet in the regional semi finals.  The game will be at Norwood Shea Stadium at 7:00.  During the regular season, the two teams tied 0-0.

Boys' soccer will have three district games Saturday: Wyoming-Bellbrook (Mason HS), Indian Hill-Monroe (Edgewood HS), Mariemont-Greenon (Lebanon HS).  All games are scheduled to start at 7:00.

Cross country will be running in Troy Saturday at the regional championships for spots at the state meet.

Volleyball will have the district finals at Trent Arena in Kettering on Saturday.  Wyoming & Indian Hill will each be going for Division II district titles.

Tennis all league is now posted.

Football is in week nine with the league title still on the line and spots in the playoffs.  In each region of the Harbin rankings, the top 8 are in post season.  In Division IV Region 16, Wyoming is #1 & Indian Hill #2.  According to Joe Eitel's computer rankings, Wyoming has clinched a spot in the playoffs.  The Cowboys and Braves will meet in week 10 of the regular season.  In Division V Region 20, Madeira is 7th & Mariemont 11th.  In Division VI Region 24, Deer Park is 12th.  So a lot can be decided in the playoff picture this week & next.

This fall has been unusually dry.  That hasn't help with your grass & plants but it did help in keeping postponements down for sporting events.  That stretch of dry weather looks to come to an end on Saturday.  They are calling for steady to heavy rain throughout the day.  Effected by this will be three boys' district soccer games and the regional cross country championships.  Unless there is lightning, these events shouldn't face postponement.

Thursday update.....
Wyoming volleyball won a thrilling 5 game match against McNicholas in the sectional final.  The Cowboys, along with Indian Hill, will be in the district  finals at Trent Arena at Kettering Fairmont High School Saturday.

How is this for stat on October 25... Counting regular season football, there are 26 league teams & two individual athletes in four sports still active!

Tonight, four girls' soccer teams will try to punch their ticket for the regionals.

All league is posted for girls & boys golf and girls & boys cross country.  As soon as we get the tennis all league, it will be posted.  All other sports will not have all league posted until every league team is done for the sport.
