Indian Hill & Madeira, CHL Cross Country Champs

The CHL Cross Country Championships were held Saturday at Taylor High School.

Indian Hill girls won with a score of 31.  It was their first league title since 2013 and their 5th overall in the CHL. Mariemont was 2nd with 58 points.  Madeira was 3rd edging out Wyoming 66-67.  Taylor was 5th & Deer Park 6th. The Braves were led by Elizabeth Whaley who finished 1st with a time 18:27.5.  Whaley is the CHL Runner of the Year.  Teammate Hayden Withers was 4th.  Rounding out the Indian Hill scoring was Ashleigh Prugh (7th), Amy Prugh (9th), & Claudia Hollander (10th).  Louisa Klaserner & Ellie Bayless were the 6th & 7th runners for Indian Hill.  Whaley & Withers were 1st Team All League.  Ashleigh & Amy Prugh and Hollander were 2nd Team.  Other 1st team members were Lily Bauer of Mariemont (2nd), Tiffany Chen of Wyoming (3rd), Sylvia Coyle of Wyoming (5th), and Maddie Liebert of Madeira (6th).  Other 2nd Team members were Erin Kelly of Mariemont (8th) & Izzy Arredondo of Madeira (11th).  Honorable Mention were Claire Leroy (Madeira) , Bridget Gilmore (Mariemont), Megan Fox (Taylor) , Kiersten Souders (Mariemont), & Maggie Simmons (Wyoming).  Sue Savage of Indian Hill is the CHL Coach of the Year.

Madeira had four of the top six runners as the Mustangs won their 3rd straight league title with a score of 25.  It is their 9th overall in the CHL.  Mariemont was 2nd with 67 points.  Indian Hill was 3rd (81) & Wyoming 4th (87).  Taylor was 5th.  Madeira was led by 2nd place finisher Dylan Whitson.  Diego Arredondo was 3rd, Ben Ramos 4th, Ethan Henry 6th, & Calvin Busch 10th.  The 6th & 7th runners for the Mustangs were Luke Mitchell & Brock Shults.  Whitson, Arredondo, Ramos, & Henry were 1st Team All League. Busch is 2nd Team.  Mitchell & Shults are Honorable Mention.  Alex Galbraith of Indian Hill finished 1st with a time of 16:04.1. He was a 1/2 second ahead of Whitson.  Galbraith is the CHL Runner of the Year.  Also making 1st team is 5th place finisher Nick Lake of Taylor.  Others on the 2nd Team are Bradley Corl of Indian Hill (7th), Nate Grant of Reading (8th), Sam Beeler of Mariemont (9th), & Santi Biro of Mariemont (11th).  Other Honorable Mention are Andrew Stoppenhagen (Wyoming), Bennett Turan (Mariemont), & Nico Arraje (Wyoming).  Josh Dooley of Madeira is the CHL Coach of the Year.
