Fall Weekly Update, August 12-17


By the end of this week, all fall sports except football will have been started. Stat leaders for golf will be posted next week.  The other stat leaders will be posted on Labor Day.  Complete stats are posted under each sport.
We are still working on some fall schedules.  Hopefully this week all will be compete.


Wyoming is coming off of a dream season.  The Cowboys went 15-0 in 2018 capping off with a Division IV state title.They bring back quarterback Evan Prater,2018 Division IV Offensive Player of the Year in Ohio.  Prater has already committed to play college ball at the University of Cincinnati.  Wyoming owns the longest regular season football win streak in Ohio, 31 in a row.  They will be going for their 4th league title in row and the 6th in the last 7 years.  Three teams, Indian Hill, Reading, & Wyoming will be involved in the Skyline Showdown.  More on that later in August.

Football opens the regular season on Friday, August 30.


Wyoming is going for its 10th league title in a row.  They have the 2nd longest current league title streak in the CHL.  The Cowboys have a 126 league win streak going into this season.  The last time Wyoming was beat in a league match, this years seniors were in 2nd grade!

The first regular season matches of the season will be Saturday.  There will be three duals matches and the Amazon Tournament hosted by Madeira.

Wyoming will be going for its 3rd straight league title.

There will be six non league games Friday and one more Saturday to open the regular season. Seven of the eight teams will be action.

Wyoming will be trying to repeat as league champs.  Indian Hill will be trying for a three peat as Division II state champs.

Four teams will start the regular season on Friday & Saturday with non league games.

The last time Indian Hill lost the league title was 2003.  The Braves hold the longest current league win streak at 22 years in a row.  A league title this year will tie them for the most ever in a row in league history.  Indian Hill boys tennis has 23 in a row.

The first regular season week will be a busy one for tennis.  There are 14 matches, all of them non-league.

The league championship is decided by points.  Teams get one point for each team they beat at the league preview.  Two points are given for regular season 9 hole win and two points for each team they beat at the league championship. 
Mariemont has 6 points so far. Taylor & Wyoming have 5 points each.

Madeira 178 Taylor 192 - Brandon Conner (Madeira) medalist with a 36
At the Madeira Invitational, Mariemont was 2nd with a score of 314.  Jack Neville was medalist with a 72 on the Vineyard course.  Andrew Getgey was tied for 2nd (76) & Tom Buchert was tied for 7th (79) Madeira was 6th.  graham Redden had an 86 & Brandon Conner an 89.

There are 10 matches this week,  Monday, Madeira will be in the Eastside Challenge at Stillmeadow Country Club.

Girls' golf in the CHL is a non league sport.  Four league schools have teams; Indian Hill, Madeira, Taylor, & Wyoming.  Indian Hill is coming back after last playing in 2015.  The website will have the schedules, win-lost records, and nine hole stats.
Wyoming is 4-0, including wins over Indian Hill, Madeira, & Taylor.  Indian Hill is 1-1.
Some Results From Last Week:
Wyoming was champion again this year at the Fair field Invitational.  Their score was a 347.  Victory Lee had an 82.  Samara Dulin had an 85, Sophia Dulin an 86, & Annabelle Walton a career best 89.

There will be 4 dual matches this week.

Wyoming will be going for a three peat in the league championships.

Madeira will be going for a three peat in the league championships.

The cross country season gets under way Saturday with the OHSAA Early Season Invitational.  It's held on the state championship course at National Trails Raceway.  Madeira & Mariemont will be there.
