INDIAN HILL GIRLS STATE TRACK & FIELD CHAMPS

06/01/2019

Going into the final event of the Division II State Track & Field Championships, Indian Hill had a 5 point lead over 2nd place.  At that point, they had clinched the state championship, but the Braves put some "icing on the cake" as they won the 4 x 400 Relay in a state record time of 3:49.30.  Indian Hill ended up with 43 points, 15 better than 2nd place Oakwood & Akron SVSM.  Senior Anna Podojil had an outstanding final meet of her high school career.  She made the podium in all four of her events, two of them as state champ.  Anna won the 400 Dash with a time of 53.67, just missing the state record.  She won by almost 3 seconds over 2nd place.   Podojil anchored the state record 4 x 400 team.  The other members of that team were sophomore Meghan O'Brien, junior Ellie Podojil, & freshman Elizabeth Whaley.  Anna also had a 7th place finish in the 100 Dash (12.29) & 3rd place finish in the 200 Dash (24.73).  Whaley made it to the podium in three of her four races.  Besides the 6th place finish in the 4 X 800 Relay and the 4 x 400, she was 4th in the 1600 Run with a school record 5:03.31.  Ellie Podojil was 3rd in the 300 Hurdles in 43.55.
Congratulations to Coach Sue Savage and the Lady Braves on a fantastic season!

We will have more information on the state track & field meet later Saturday.
