One Mariemont Team Moves On To State Lacrosse Championship


Both Mariemont boys and girls were palying in state Division II semi-final games on Wednesday.  The girls  season end Wednesday but the boys will have one more game.  Both teams took on Columbus St. Francis Desales in Centerville. 

The girls' played first.  DeSales took the lead from early on.  The Warriors came within two goals with a few minutes to go.  But the Stallions held on to win 13-11.  Mariemont beat the same team 15-14 last year in overtime.  The Warriors end another great season 14-4.  This is the 3rd year that lacrosse has recognized by OHSAA as a sport. It will be the first time a CHL team has not won the state D2 title.  Indian Hill won in 2017 and Mariemont last year.

Mariemont boys' were out to revenged a lost to DeSales in the state semi final last year. The Warriors seceded in doing that in downing the Stallions 8-6.  Mariemont (20-3) will move on to the state championship for the 2nd time in 3 years.  In 2017, they were state champs.  They will take on Chagrin Falls, a 11-5 winner over Toledo St. Francis DeSales in the other state semi final game.  The game will be played Saturday at 1:00 at Selby Stadium on the campus of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware.
