Mariemont Swimming, National Champs!

Mariemont Swimming & Diving teams found out some great news. The National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA) named the Warrior girls' National Champions.  It is the 3rd year in a row for the girls. Mariemont boys' are ranked 9th, the top team in Ohio.  NISCA sponsors a program named the National Dual Meet Team Rankings.  Each school is allowed to enter three individuals and two relays per event.  Each event has a corresponding point allotment for the time entered.  The schools are divided into various classes according to public/private and enrollment.  This allows for similar schools to compete against each other on a national basis since not all states swim during the same season.  Mariemont girls' team won Class 5 (public schools 1-900) with 4,834 points, 300 better more than the second place team.  The Warrior boys' team were 9th in Class 1 (public schools 1-900) with 3409 points..

The NISCA also sponsors the All-American program that recognized the top 100 swimmers in each event, regardless of school size or public/private.  These are truly are the fastest 100 swims in the nation in each event.  Cora Dupre earned four All American honors (the most in Mariemont history for one season).  She finished 7th in 100 Freestyle (49.17), 11th in the 50 Freestyle (22.56), & 50th in the 100 Freestyle (54.83).  She was also part of the 30th rank 400 Freestyle Relay (3:26.31) along with Brooke Woellert, Lainey Newman, & Kate Overbey.  Ian Mikesell finished just out of the list (101st) in the 100 Breaststroke.

Congratulations to Coach Kevin Maness and the Warrior swimmers for these great honors!
