Wyoming, Only Football Team To Advance

Three CHL football teams were playing the regional semi-finals.  Two of them saw their season end and one moves on to the regional finals.

Wyoming improve to 12-0 on the season with a 25-0 win over rival Indian Hill.  Indian Hill finishes a great season 8-3.  Their only loses were to play off teams (two to Wyoming and one to CHCA).  Pierson Rogers got the scoring started with a 1 yard run. Sergio Listo's PAT gave the Cowboys a 7-0 lead.  Wyoming defense was credited with a safety giving them a 9-0 lead. After the free kick, Rogers scored on a 3 yard run.  Wyoming had a 16-0 lead at the half.  In the 2nd half, Listo had a 36 yard field goal and Evan Prater a 2 yard run.  Two weeks ago, these two teams battled back and forth but this time, it was all Wyoming as the Cowboy defense recorded their 4th shut-out of the season.  Rogers had 40 carries for 297 yards.  Wyoming had 368 total yards rushing.

Reading was up 21-0 over West Jefferson, but they came back with 35 unanswered points to beat Reading 35-28. Reading closes out a great season 8-4.Mancini Jackson scored on a 31 yard run on the opening possession and then intercepted a West Jefferson pass for a "pick six" giving Reading a 14-0 lead in the first 3 minutes. Adrian Simmons scored on a 53 yard run pushing the Blue Devils lead to 21-0.  That is when West Jefferson scored 35 unanswered points. Jackson got his 3rd TD of the game late, the Reading fell short 35-28.

Wyoming will take on Clinton Massie (11-1) in the regional final Friday at Lakota West at 7:30.  The winner will go on to the final four.  Wyoming has been to the final four four previous times.  The last one was in 2009.  They also reached the finals in 1998, 1977, & 1975.  In 1977, they were state champs and 1975, state runner-up.  Clinton Massie has been to the final four three times: 2011, 2012, 2013.  In 2012 & 2013, they were state champs.  In the final AP Division IV State Poll, Wyoming was 6th & Clinton Massie 7th.
