Indian Hill, Reading, & Wyoming Win First Round Football Games


Three league teams all won their 1st round playoff games Friday and will move on to the regional semi-finals next Friday. Eight teams from each region in the seven football divisions make the playoffs.

In Division IV, Region 16 Wyoming (11-0), the #2 seed, had close game with #7 London winning 10-7.  Indian Hill (9-2) the #6 seed down #3 seed Taft 47-22. For the 2nd time in 3 weeks, Indian Hill & Wyoming will be playing each other.  They will play at Withrow High School on Friday at 7:30.

In Division V, Region 20 Reading (8-3), the #8 seed, had a big upset over #1 Miami East 27-25. Reading will play #5 West Jefferson (who beat #4 Bethel-Tate 48-18).  They will play at Xenia High School Friday at 7:30.

Wyoming & London defenses dominated the first half with the score 0-0.  In the 3rd quarter Wyoming got on the board first. Evan Prater threw a scoring pass to Miles Smith for 75 yards.  Sergio Listo's PAT made it 7-0 Cowboys.  Later in the 3rd quarter London scored a TD and with the PAT tied the game at 7 all. In the 4th quarter, Listo had a 25 yard field goal.  It ended up being the game winner as Wyoming won their 11th game of the season 10-7.

Johnny Miller had his first 4 
touchdown passing game of the season and Mancini Jackson his third 3 touchdown game as Reading upset Miami East.  In the 1st quarter, Miller & Jackson connected for 57 yard score.  Miller also had a TD pass to Bryce Hart for 8 yards.  The Blue Devils were still down at the half 18-14.  In the 3rd quarter Miller found Jackson for a 52 yard TD pass.  Then Jackson caught a 10 yard pass that proved to be the game winner.  Reading held on for a 27-25 win.
Of the 28 #1 seed - #8 seed games in Ohio, Reading was the only #8 to win.  It is their first playoff win since 2004.

We have no individual stats on the Indian Hill win over Taft.

Wyoming is making their 23rd appearance in the playoffs. Only 11 teams in Ohio have made more appearances.   It is their 5th in a row.  Their playoff record is 18-21.  Wyoming was state champion in 1977, runner up in 1975 and four finals fours (2009, 1998, 1977, 1975).
Indian Hill is in the play offs for the 11th time overall, third in a row.  Their play off record is 7-10.
Reading is making their 10th trip to the post season.  It is their first since 2015.  Their playoff record is 9-9 and final four appearances in 2000, 1973, 1972.
