Hirsch Sisters 3rd In State Doubles, Indian Hill 3rd In State Team Tennis


Seven tennis players from Indian Hill & Wyoming qualified for the state championships in Division II tennis.  The state championships were held at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

In singles play, Indian Hill sophomore Samantha Pregel  lost in the 1st round to Sydni Ratliff of Columbus Academy.

In doubles play, the league had three teams.  Wyoming junior Emily Mayer & sophomore Peyton Osha lost to Isabella Daverio & Rebecca Wolf of Hathaway Brown in the 1st round.  Indian Hill senior Julia Yingling & junior Nina Price beat Logan Elm in the 1st round. They lost to Isabella Godsick & Megan Qiang of Hathaway Brown in round 2.  Senior Gracey Hirsch & sophomore Hayley Hirsch were making their 2nd appearance at the state in doubles.  The sisters finished 3rd last year.  Gracey made it to state in her sophomore year in singles. Gracey & Hayley won their first two round easily over Warren Kennedy & Akron Our Lady of the Elms.  In the semi-final match they lost to eventual state champs Godsick & Qiang 6-4, 6-4.  The Hirsch sisters defeated Daverio & Wolf 6-4, 7-5 to finished 3rd for the second year in a row.

Indian Hill was again in the Columbus area Sunday for the Division State Tennis Championships.  They were held in Reyondsburg.  In the semi-final final match, the Braves lost to Hathaway Brown.  The last two years, the two teams met in the state finals with Hathaway Brown winning both times.  In 2013, Indian Hill did beat Hathaway Brown for the state title.  Indian Hill went on to beat Toledo Central Catholic for 3rd place.
