Hirsch Sisters District Champs, Join Five Others At State


Seven tennis players from Indian Hill & Wyoming qualified for the state championships in tennis.  The Division II District was held at Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason.

In singles play, Indian Hill sophomore Samantha Pregel  lost in the semi final .  She won 3rd place 6-0, 6-3 over Annika Alper of Seven Hills. 

In doubles play, the CHL dominated with three of four state qualifying teams.  Wyoming junior Emily Mayer & sophomore Peyton Osha Beat the Indian Hill doubles team of senior Julia Yingling & junior Nina Price 6-4 6-3 in semi finals. They met senior Gracey Hirsch & sophomore Hayley Hirsch in the district finals as Hirsch & Hirsch beat Seven Hills 6-0 6-0 in their semi final match.  In the finals Gracey & Hayley won 6-0, 6-1 to capture the district title. In their four rounds of district play, the Hirsch sisters only lost one game.  Yingling & Price beat the Seven Hills 6-3, 4-6, 6-2 for 3rd place.

Players won't have to travel far for the Division II state championships.  It will be at the Lindner Family Tennis Center on Friday & Saturday.  The first two rounds Friday will begin at 9:00 am.  The semi finals and finals on Saturday will also begin at 9:00 am.
