Wyoming Girls' Golf Sectional Champs, Lee Medalist


After a 3rd place finish last year at the Division II Girls' Sectional Golf Championships, Wyoming moved to the top this year.  The Cowboys won with a score of 411 at Hamilton Elks Golf Course.  That was 4 better than 2nd place McNicholas.  Sophomore Victory Lee led the way for Wyoming by shooting a 83, good enough to be medalist out of 58 golfers.  Senior Anna Sponaugle & Sophomore Annabelle Walton tied for 13th with 107.  Senior Abby McMonigal rounded out the Cowboy scoring with a 114.  Junior Kayla Roeske was the fifth golfer with a 117.  Madeira was 8th place.  Sophomore Haley Hartung was the top Amazon golfer finishing 16th with a 110.  Taylor was 10th, lead by junior Delany Day with a 114.  Sophomore Joie Knox of Reading had competed on the boys' team during the regular season but did get the opportunity to compete in the sectional tourney.  She placed 32nd with a 121.

The D2 district tournament will be held at Pipestone Golf Course in Miamisburg next Wednesday, October 4.  The first tee times will be at 8:30.  Three teams and three individuals with the lowest scores not on those teams will move on to the state championship.
