CHL Welcomes New Deer Park AD

09/21/2017

Deer Park schools have a new athletic director who is not new to the school district.  Greg Huster took over the duties of athletic director this summer.

Huster is 1996 graduate of Deer Park.  He replaces Eric Taylor (also a Deer Park grad) who took over AD duties at CHCA.  During his time at Deer Park, Huster was a varsity football team captain , member of the National Honor Society & a recipient of the C.R. Piercey Scholarship Award.  After his graduation, Huster went to Mount St. Joseph where was four year starter and captain of the football team.  He graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science & Liberal Arts degree.  After college, he was the assistant head coach & recruiting coordinator for Mount St Joe.  He also has worked at the University of Cincinnati as a graduate assistant and director of recruiting.  Huster has worked at Seton Hill & St. Joesph's College in their football programs.  In 2015, he joined Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan as defensive coordinator & defensive backs coach.  The Panthers had a winning record (6-5) in their inaugural season and Huster was also at the helm when they were the 3rd ranked NCAA Division II defense in the country.

"It feels good to be home" Huster said.  "I grew up and graduated from Deer Park High School and am a proud alumnus.  I am truly grateful for the chance to help mold students in the mission of Deer Park Schools and to provide ALL students with every opportunity to achieve their future goals.  The Deer Park athletic department encompasses a professional and highly motivated staff, working together with our families and Deer Park community to build leaders, grate our players and forge champions.  I'm honored and excited to embrace the mission and vision that makes Deer park Community Schools the place to be."

Greg and wife Christina have two children Troy & Macey.
