Fall Weekly Update 8/21-8/26

All fall sports will be under way by the end of this week.  One team will have a "first" this week.  Stat leaders will be posted about two weeks after each sport starts it's regular season.  Complete stats can be found under each sport's link.

FOOTBALL
Wyoming is defending champ.  The Cowboys have won league titles  5 of the last 8 years.  In the last 4 years, 6 of the 8 league teams have made an appearance in the state playoffs.

Deer Park will have the distinction of being the the first regular season high school football game in Ohio this season.  The Wildcats will host Hughes on Wednesday.  The other seven teams will have games on Friday.  Finneytown, Madeira, Mariemont, Reading, & Taylor will host games.  Indian Hill & Wyoming will be on the road.  Roger Bacon at Reading will be broadcast on ICRC TV.

VOLLEYBALL
Note- Reading home games will be at the Central Building, with the gym entrance off of Jefferson Avenue.
In the first 8 matches of the season, CHL teams are a combined 8-0! Madeira & Mariemont are 3-0 and Deer Park & Taylor are 1-0.

Madeira won it's tournament by beating Norwood & Hamilton in 2 games and Seven Hills in 3 games.

GIRLS' SOCCER

Mariemont is 2-0.  Indian Hill, Madeira, & Reading won their opening games.

GIRLS' GOLF

Our new link this year,girls' golf, is a non league sport.  Only three schools, Madeira, Taylor, & Wyoming have teams. The website will show won/lost records, schedules, & stats.
Some results from the past week-
Wyoming beat Madeira 177-213.  Victory Lee was medalist with a 39.  Annabelle Walton had a 42 & Anna Sponaugle a 47.  Kayla Roeske had a career best 49.

There are 6 dual matches this week.

Some results from the past week-
Mariemont was 7th at the Eastside Challenge.  Jack Nevile led the Warriros with a 18 hole score of 86.
Wyoming 160, Marimeont 169, CHCA 187  Dylan Stevens of Wyoming was medalist with a 2 under 34 at the Wyoming Gold Course.  Jack Nevile of Mariemont shot a 39.
There are 13 dual matches this week including 5 league matches. A big league match Wednesday will be Indian Hill at Wyoming.

Mariemont is 3-1.  Wyoming is 1-0.

GIRLS' CROSS COUNTRY
The OHSAA Early Season Invitational was held on the state championship course east of Columbus.  Indian Hill, Madeira, & Mariemont were in the meet.  In Division II, Indian Hill was 8th.  Top runner for the Braves was Emily Sheard who was 23rd out of 144 runners. In the Division II/III race, Mariemont was 4th.  The top runner for the Warriors was Abby Dodson who was 23rd out of 196 runners.  Top runner for Madeira was Cossette Busch (21st).

BOYS' CROSS COUNTRY
Indian Hill, Madeira, & Mariemont boys were also at the OHSAA Early Season invite.  In the Division II/III race, Madeira was 1st place.  The Mustangs had 95 points, 3 better than 2nd place Milton Edison.  The top runner for Madeira was Diego Arredondo who was 12th out of 22 runners. Other scoring runners for the Mustangs were Ben Ramos (14th), David Grimm (20th), Chet Dobson (23rd), & Joseph Kirby (26th).  The 6th & 7th runners were Dylan Whitson & Ethan Henry.  Mariemont was 19th with Nolan Buck their top runner. In the Division II race, Indian Hill was 3rd with 127 points.  Ben Bayless was 5th out of 176 with a time of 16:50.  Nolan Heffernan was 14th & John Giroux was 16th.

CROSS COUNTRY SCHEDULES
Tuesday, Deer Park, Finneytown, & Wyoming will be at the Clark 2 Miler at Withrow High School.  Friday, Madeira & Reading will be at the Moeller Primetime Invitational under the lights at the Christ Church property in Mason.  Saturday, will have four meets.  Indian Hill & Mariemont will be at the Lakota East Invitational at Voice of America Park.  Taylor will be at the Talawanda Invitational at Talawanda High School.  Finneytown will travel to Wilmington for the Finishtiming Classic.  Wyoming travels to West Milton for the Bob Schul Invitational.
