Indian Hill Girls Region Track & Field Champs, Thirteen Move on To State


Indian Hill girls track & field team needed an 8th place finish in the final event to seal their Division II regional title.  The Braves had 55 points, one better than 2nd place Versailles.  Mariemont was 13th, Wyoming 25th, & Taylor 40th.
Indian Hill's super sophomore Anna Podojil led the way with three first place finishes in the same three events she went to state as a freshman.  Podojil was 1st the 100 Dash (12.15), 1st in the 400 Dash (56.14, 2 seconds better than 2nd place), & 1st in the 200 Dash (24.50).  Her time in the 200 was only .12 off of the regional record.  Anna join sister Ellie, Karen Folz, & Margo David in the 4 x 200 Relay that finished 3rd and qualified for state.  Podojil wasn't the only Brave to be a regional champ.  Freshman Ashleigh Prugh had a season best 5:11.32 to win the 1600 run. Freshman Ellie Podojil had a season best 45.27 in the 300 Hurdles to make it to state.  For the team title , it came down to the 4 x 400 Relay.  Indian Hill had 54 points to Versailles' 48 going into the event.  Versailles ended up 3rd place picking up 6 points.  But the Braves had qualified a team for the finals and they ended up in 8th place to capture 1 point to win the title.  On the podium for that team were Louisa Klaserner, Ashleigh Prugh, Ellie Podojil, & Margo David.  Indian Hill has had quite a run the last three weeks winning the league title, the district title, and now the regional title.  Mariemont will be sending two girls to the state meet.  Marine Valentine was 2nd in the 400 dash with a school record time of 58.24.  Carson Fields was 3rd in the 100 dash (12.47).  Fields also had a podium finish in the 300 Hurdles (6th place). Also for the Warriors, Corinne Fanta was 7th in the 1600 Run (5:15.83) A pair of Wyoming girls made it to the podium.  Tiffany Chen was 6th in the 1600 Run (5:15.70) & Whitley Elsass was 8th in the 3200 Run (11:52.80).  Jessie Lakamp of Taylor was 8th in the 300 Hurdles.

Reading was the top boys' team at the Division II regional meet.  The Blue Devils finished in a tie for 9th with 23 points.  Indian Hill was 11th with 20 points.  Taylor was 15th, Wyoming 40th, & Madeira 45th.  Reading's Nate Stidham had a disappointing discus competition Thursday.  The senior made up for it by finishing 2nd in the Shot Put with a best effort of 54'4.  He breaks his own school record by almost two feet.  Teammate Gabe Vanskaik will be joining him at state by finishing 4th in the 400 Dash (50.77).  Brad Greene of Taylor finished 3rd in the 800 Run with a school record 1:56.77.  Ben Bayless of Indian Hill also had a 3rd place finish, this one in the 3200 Run (9:55.52).  Other podium finishes for the boys were:

The 11 state qualifiers Saturday join long jumpers Justin Dreyling (Reading) & Mykal Bright (Indian Hill) for spots in the Division II State Championships on Friday & Saturday.  The meet will be held at Jessie Owens Stadium on the campus of Ohio State.  More information on the meet will be posted later in the  week.
