Winter Weekly Update 2/13 - 2/18

A busy week for CHL varsity sports. Girls' basketball and bowling start post season.  Swimming/diving move on to the district level.  Wrestling will have their league championships.  Boys' basketball are in their final regular season week.  Stat leaders are posted. Additional  stats can be found under each sports' links.

GIRLS' BASKETBALL

Mariemont finished the season with a perfect 14-0 record giving them back to back league titles. The Warriors are 19-3 overall and now won 29 straight league games over three seasons. Madeira is in 2nd (12-2, 18-4).  Reading is 12-10 overall. 
Some results from last week:
In a great scheduling quirk, Madeira was at Mariemont in the final league game for both teams.  The Amazons held a 1 point lead at half.  In the 2nd half, the Warriors outscored Madeira 31 to 19 to capture the league title out right with a 55-40 win.  Rebekah Justice had 14 points & 17 rebounds.  Teammates Emma Worple (14) & Ashley Rothert (13) also were in double figures in scoring.  Mary Englert of Madeira led all scorers with 23 points.  She also had 10 rebounds.  Marin Kline added 11 points.

BOYS' BASKETBALL
Despite one league game to  be played, Wyoming won their 4th straight league. The Cowboys are 12-1 in the league & 20-1 overall.  They have won 7 straight games.  Indian Hill (10-3, 16-4) & Madeira (10-3, 12-9) are tied for 2nd.  Mariemont is 16-5 overall & Reading is 12-9.

Madeira was down by 8 to Indian Hill at half time.  In the 2nd half, the Mustangs outscored the Braves 35-22 to win 50-45.  It was the second time this season Madeira has beat Indian Hill.  Adam Wieczorek led Madeira with 14 points.  Teammate Kyle Johnson added 12 points.  Colin Shaw & Reed Aichholz had 15 points each.  Teammate Ben Bader added 12 points.
Deer Park edged Seven Hills 37-36.  Ibrahima Athie had 13 points & 11 rebounds.

WRESTLING
Indian Hill won the East Clinton Duals.  At the Batavia Invitational, Mariemont was 15th & Deer Park 18th.  Ian Goodpaster of Deer Park was 6th in the 106 class.  Wesley Adams of Mariemont was 6th in 113.

The Division II Sectional Championships will be held Friday at Colerain Bowl.  The girls will start at 8:45.  The boys will start at 1:15.  Six boys and girls teams and six boys and girls individuals will advance to district.
